FUN FACT: The Apollo 11 astronauts spent less than 24 hours on the lunar surface.  According to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, it was only 21 hours, 38 minutes and 21 seconds!  There is also a plaque that was affixed to the lunar landing vehicle which was signed by President Nixon, Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr.  The inscription is reminiscent of a SCI-FI movie:  “Here men from the planet earth first set foot upon the Moon July 1969 AD” (Check out the photo!)  See this and other interesting facts here.
